Gerdie Commane was a great friend of ours in the shop and it was a pleasure and honour that he agreed to our request to record him at his home in Kilnamona.

It was a miserable November evening in 2001 when Eoin and myself descended on his farmhouse with recording equipment and it proved a very enriching few evenings. Joe Ryan became involved in the recording as they were great friends and the music that ensued was heart-warming and so real.

Unfortunately both Joe and Gerdie have travelled the way of truth and both were predeceased by Gerdie's great companion and love of his life, Nora.
