The Good Mixer

€17,00

Recorded live in the Good Mixer Pub in Camden Town in 1989,this pub became a focal point for traditional Irish music from the mid 1980's.

When Michael Hurley , from Tipperary, took over the pub in 1985,the original session group comprised of Henry Benagh on fiddle,Tommy Keane on pipes and Michael Hynes on flute. Noel O' Grady joined a year later on bouzouki.

Tommy  and Michael returned to Ireland and were replaced by John Carty on banjo and Marcus Hernon on driving flute and this and this group feature on the album with Bernadette McCarthy on backing piano on some tracks.

The recording lay forgotten about until John Carty resurrected it.

Two great CDs from Custys.

Custy's has been my go-to place for Irish music CDs since I first went there in 2002. Whether in-person or by mail, Custy's always comes through with excellent choices and service.
