Pat burst into the shop on 27th May, 2022, with a contented, joyful, sated look on his face carrying his son , Darach, on one arm with a small package under his other arm. Contained therein was a batch of his new, third solo release, Glaise.
The fiddle music is brimful of deep respectful magic, celebrating powerful memories in the past, of places embedded in his mind and people whom he adored. It's as if the music is the synapse through which he can establish some communication between the "waking world" and the "inner world of dreams".
Fiddle music of a different time.
palyed by masters of irish traditional music, i find it very clean and warm, really the sound of the water in nature is wispered in it.
A Nice album!
Great tune & lovely clare music,as alway! Love the playing ,thé tempo & the atmosphère .Fair play to you lads
You wouldn't expect anything else from Pat O'Connor, a lovely set of well-chosen tunes, played by a master. The pacing's good, the accompaniment is just-so and complements the fiddle perfectly. To start with an air instead of a set of reels or jigs might be a bold move, but An Clar Bog Deal (how do I do accents on this keyboard?) sets the tone for the whole album, revealing the depth and understanding of a lifetime's playing. I'm thinking of moving house and shouldn't be acquiring more things to transport, but you can't say no to music like this.
