A Complete Guide To The Irish Button Accordion For Players of the B/C Accordion System
December 2018 publication of this button accordion tutor by one of the greatest living practicioners of this instrument.
Proud north Clare native who played for a spell with The Kilfenora Céilí Band before he emigrated to America in 1960. He returned to Ireland in 1970, set up home in south Tipperary(which still rankles with us but forgiveness is a virtue which Clare people possess in abundance) and isn't Ireland lucky to have him here imparting his goodness and deep knowledge of Irish music to the new generation.
Bobby Gardiner's book is ideal for the absolute beginner.
Bobby Gardiner's book is ideal for the absolute beginner. Getting started with playing the melody is very pleasant. The use of basses and cords is still a little difficult. Here I would have liked more detailed explanations of the techniques (...or I just didn't understand them because English is not my mother tongue...). I had the book rebound for a few bucks. With the ring binding it is much easier to handle. Overall highly recommended.

Yes book is very informative
Bobby Gardiner’s Book
I am very happy with this book. I am only about a quarter way through it and taking my time with it. I have found it to be an invaluable guide for me in learning the BC accordion and the accompanying Cd’s are really helpful. I play Irish music on other instruments and can read music so I am finding it fairly straightforward. This book, in my opinion, covers just about everything you would want to know for playing the accordion in this style. I highly recommend this accordion tutor.
