Jack called into the shop on 4th July on the way to Miltown Malbay for the start of Willie Clancy Summer School, 2026.
He was bearing gifts not of gold, frankincence or myrrh but something of more import - a new recording of 32 of his own compositions nurtured, inspired and made manifest by the loving memory an of his dear mother, Colette who passed earlier this year.
I have known Jack for a long time and have seen him develop and evolve into a fine musician but more importantly into a rounded, lovely individual, a husband and father and to cap it all off, an accomplished academic with his two feet firmly set in the fertile ground of humility.
He sent out the call and a legion of the finest musicians descended on his home in isolated Tubber and this recording bubbled "i gcoire an cheoil".
