John and William Neal A Collection of the Most Celebrated Irish Tunes
€30,00
In 1724, the first notated collection of Irish music was published by the musical instrument makers, John and William Neal in Dublin.
These tunes were directed at the new and favourable instruments of violin, German flute and oboe but the origins of these tunes were mainly from the traditional Irish harping background and the melodies of traditional Irish songs, many in our native language.
Turlough O' Carolan, who contributed several of the tunes, was still alive at the time and died 14 years later.
