John Blake and traditional Irish music are synonymous and he has been a prolific and ubiquitous figure since the release of his first album titled "Traditional Irish Music from London " with Lamond Gillespie and Mick Leahy.
His baptism into Irish music in London was at the font of famed Crusheen fiddler, Brendan Mulkere and this is the foundation from which his music flourished.
This is his first solo release on his beloved flute and he is accompanied on bouzouki by Sean Mac Gorman.

It's too easy to take a good musician for granted: John Blake appears on many albums as a reliably-sensitive accompanist, but hearing him solo reminds you just how good he is. This is just a lovely recording, you can hear the players that influenced him, but he puts his own stamp on the music. This couldn't be anyone else.
